Walking into a boxing gym for the first time can feel intimidating — the sound of gloves hitting the heavy bags, the ring in the corner, coaches calling out combinations. At Billings Elite Amateur Boxing Club, our first goal is simple: make sure every new boxer, young or old, feels welcome from the moment they walk through the door.
Your first session starts with a conversation. Our coaches want to know your goals, whether that’s fitness, discipline, competition, or just trying something new. From there, we walk through the basics of stance, guard, and footwork before any gloves come on. Nobody is thrown into sparring on day one.
Come in comfortable athletic clothing and shoes with good grip. We have loaner gloves and wraps available for your first few visits so you can try it out before investing in your own gear. Bring water, a positive attitude, and be ready to sweat.
Most importantly, come with patience for yourself. Boxing is a skill sport built on repetition. Every champion who has ever stepped into our ring started with the same jab-cross drill you will learn on day one.
